My Kindle can't seem to catch fire.

This has been a (mostly) great week! I did order the Kindle after all; however, I've had some problems. When it arrived on Wednesday, I couldn't get the wifi to work. I spent a half-hour on the phone with Amazon tech support, who finally just sent me a replacement. That one also had issues with the wifi, but I finally got connected... only to discover I can't access the Kindle Store. Ugh. I was able to connect via the coffeeshop's wifi this afternoon, so I guess it's a problem with my router. No idea what the issue could be, though, as all my other devices connect just fine.

That said, I quite like it so far. Of course I downloaded the Hunger Games series. ;) It's been fun to bounce around as I reread favorite parts, though also a bit frustrating to get the hang of using the OS to keep track of where I am in the book. I also plan to get the .pdf conversion program so that I can store knitting patterns. I also kinda wish the screen were backlit -- even in full light it seems rather dim -- but it's still a fun little toy!

Other things making me happy:

-- I didn't watch SNL last night, but I laughed long and hard at Spike TV Presents Downton Abbey. The Dowager Countess really does look like a chicken.

-- I have "problem" skin that is constantly breaking out. Yay, rosacea! I recently heard of the most bizarre way to clear up pimples: put a dab of toothpaste (white, not gel) on it overnight. It really works!

-- I've already waxed rhapsodic about The Artist, and I'm thrilled to have found the complete tap dance sequence from the movie. Those two deserve Oscars just for the dancing alone. Wow.

-- This afternoon I had the TV on in the background. Much to my delight, I glanced up at one point to see a Hunger Games promo. Yay! And I made plans with some friends to see the movie. That said, I might be better off going to opening night alone, lest I scare my friends with my fannishness.

-- And I finished a sweater! I'm in love with this one.

ETA: Ugh! Flickr won't let me add the photos. So... the front and the collar.

The pattern is "Evendim", and I used Tosh Vintage in "Amber Trinket". The colors are gorgeous; I had to play with the image editing in Flickr, but I couldn't quite get them right. It's a little big on me and not the most flattering for my body shape, but I don't care. The raglan shaping at the shoulders is really neat, with the pronounced decreases. And I love the cabling at the cuffs and collar. If anything, I might add another repeat at the collar to make it longer and easier to see from the front. But I'll have to do that later, as right now I'm drying it to wear tomorrow. Our winter has been so ridiculously warm that this may be the only chance I get to wear it!
