From that
icon meme,
ina chose the following for me:
Keyword: Turtle, Turtle Soar; made by
rjcardinal This icon came out of an
amazing icon post in a Battlestar Galactica community, but it turned out to include a variety of non-BSG icons as well, including an amazing selection of animal icons. I fell in love with my turtle more than two years ago and I haven't been able to let go of him since. :) I've always loved turtles. When I was seven my dad found a turtle in the road and he brought it back for me. We kept it outside in a special pen we built for it complete with its own pool. Unfortunately, the turtle really wanted to be free so after a few weeks, he dug himself an escape tunnel and ran away. While I'm not as crazy for turtles as
bunnysquirrel (who is truly turtle-obsessed), I've had an affection for them for many years, and I have a small collection of miniature turtle figurines. It's the sort of icon I couldn't NOT have. I particularly love this gorgeous blue fellow!

wizzicons koalathebear is probably the only one who actually remembers anything about this icon, because she, like me, deeply associates certain icons with people, and this one has been with me from the beginning. Yes, this is my very first icon on LJ, made by one of my favorite icon-makers. I'll never get rid of it! First, I adore the coloring, and second, I love the image so much - it is so evocative to me of travel in the literal sense, but also in terms of the journey of life, of wandering around this earth and carrying our home in our hearts. There's mystery in a journey, as you never know what lies ahead, and I love the idea of the unexpected, of surprises, and especially of Adventure.
Keyword: Calcifer; made by
dungbombs Who doesn't love Calcifer, the fire demon from Miyazaki's Howl's Moving Castle? He's a wonderful character in both the book by Diana Wynne Jones and in the film, although in the film he is so much cuter than I ever imagined he could be. I love this icon because he goes through these different phases of emotion: gleeful (or evil), something in the middle that could be worried, surprised or hopeful, and then finally he looks possibly, glum, sad or grumpy. It's the spectrum that entertains me, and I use him for all sorts of different occasions. :)
Keyword: Tiger; made by
bunnymcfoo I have this icon for a few reasons. I like tigers! They're beautiful creatures. Also, in Chinese astrology, I was born in the year of the tiger, and I believe I'm supposed to be a "wood tiger." I don't know enough about it, but the descriptions I read are often scarily on the money. ;) So in general I guess I identify with tigers somehow and I use this icon for a variety of different situations. I can't imagine not having a tiger icon.
Keyword: Pretty 2; made by
aimala1 This icon is a product of my recent obsession with the color red! :) I love it for its warm, cozy coloring definitely, but also the image struck me the first time I saw it. Again, to echo what I wrote in the last post about my "Spiral Stair" icon, it's my love of what's beyond the bend, the mystery in the shadows, and also I love that tiny piece of green just beyond the small window. It just seems so evocative to me of the unknown.
Keyword: Mask; made by
wizzicons If you haven't noticed by now, I have a thing for mystery and the unknown. ;) Masks are incredible things: they allow us to become something else. Maybe we know what lies beneath the mask, maybe we don't. A mask can be beautiful or hideous. I love the colors and design of this mask, but I love everything the mask symbolizes even more.
Keyword: Mushrooms; made by
music_fun In short, I adore mushrooms! My favorite kind of pizza is one with mushrooms. I love mushrooms of all kinds, but porcini are especially fabulous. When I go out to eat, I often gravitate toward interesting mushroom dishes, and I love them in all kinds of different cuisines. I use this icon quite randomly, though, sometimes in food posts, but lots of times for no particular reason at all! :)
Speaking of icons, I went through a screencapping frenzy last night of the "Keep the Faith" PV, and I started making icons from them. O.O I realized that it has been almost a year since I last posted any icons. If I get time to finish some more, I'll post a proper batch (I'm resisting mightily the urge to post the paltry few I've already finished), but in the meantime, let me just say that I'm scarily addicted to the icon I'm currently using. (Yeah, I'm a little embarrassed to confess that, but there you have it.) It's just pretty, if I do say so myself. :)
