And that sad song that's played like a drum inside of me.

Wavering is hard. It's times like these I want to back up from the gate of the world and tuck myself away, for fear of alienating myself. And alienate myself in the process. No win situation, but I can either write or not write. I'm not really sure what I prefer...I just want to write it and get it out there, but I don't want to think about it afterwards.

Moving on from that for a moment...Employee appreciation week means that I bought new music. Which, of course, I have to pause for a moment and write about. Three things this time...Greg Laswell's new EP, How the Day Sounds, the Dengue Fever cd I talked about called Venus On Earth (mentioned and previewed in a previous post), and the Team Sleep cd, which is a side project of Deftone's lead singer and one of his highschool buddies.

The EP for Greg Laswell is pretty damn good. I got his first CD and liked most of it, it was an in store play, and there were some particularly good songs. My only thing with him is he can be a tad Too happy for me, sometimes, so it just depends on the song, but the EP has really grown on me. My favorite track is Days Go On, a haunting little number. My main worry with him is they'll turn him into another Jack Johnson and strip all of the interesting bits out of him.

Dengue Fever I already mentioned, so I won't bother going back over their style and sound, other than to say the rest of the CD is more even more old school in the girl group/surf rock feel and is good stuff.

Team Sleep is fucking awesome. There's three people singing on it at various times, a lot of Chino and another fella who'd I'd never heard of from the Pinback's, Rob Crow, who's voice I already really enjoy. Mary Timony also sings, and she has an interesting voice, my least favorite out of the three, but definitely interesting. Favorite song off of that one is Our Ride to the Rectory, hands down. It really displays Chino's and Rob's vocal talents extremely well.

Fourth person I want to talk about is a newer act out of Sweden, one Anna Ternheim, who has an amazing sound. She's another in store play, and I'm entirely in love with one certain song, Lover's Dream, which features Fyfe Dangerfield from another indie band, Guillemots.

Also, I just joined up with Imeem.com so I could hopefully preview some stuff for y'all a bit easier, so, trying this out...Behind a cut, naturally. Here's my top three picks from the bands I just listed, minus Dengue Fever.

Had some other stuff to write, but this particular post is about long enough Edit: Apparently posted two of them, and the Team Sleep only plays a preview, but you can hear the full song if you click on the link of it, I believe, or at their Myspace page, I think.
