The first thing that I'll do is throw my arms around you.

The other day at work there wasn't too much to do, it was a Saturday and I'd already busted tail the last two days to get everything done, so I had some time on my hands between customers to check out what was on displays. I spotted Dengue Fever, who I'd actually heard before on Pandora.com and liked, but they were Such a throwback to 60s surf rock that, even with the woman's beautiful Cambodian voice, I didn't really get into it. I seriously thought they were from the from the 50s or 60s from the cover I saw, pictured below.

But nope...Seems they have a new album out, and they're from the LA area. I'm liking this one because it updates the sound while keeping it with the same retro flavor. The lead singer, Chhom Nimo, sometimes duets with the other vocalist, Zac Holtzman, and his voice really seems to compliment hers. I love listening to them sing Tiger Phone Card together, such a nice little duet about long distance romance. Check out their Myspace page to hear that and other songs. Here's there latest video for a sampling of their work.
