Pretty good weekend, despite the heat. Catherine had had a low-grade fever Friday morning which developed into more than 103 that evening, though she wasn't really acting like she was sick. So we gave her baby Tylenol and put her in a cool (well, as cool as a bath gets in the Phoenix summer, anyway) tub - with, for the very first time, some Mr Bubble. She had so much fun in the bubble bath - just shrieking with joy - and it did the job, cooling her down and breaking the fever. We put her to bed, and watched the third installation of The Mummy franchise. I may be alone in my regard, but I think it was the best of the three. And every time I see her, I am stunned anew by Michelle Yeoh's beauty. She just gets more beautiful as she ages.

Saturday was a day of doing not much. Watched the race (Kyle Busch blew up his engine! Ha!), but mostly spent the afternoon and the non-race portion of the evening watching Harry Potter movies on ABC Family. At least, we watched them between cable outages, of which we had at least half a dozen over the weekend, ranging from ten minutes to more than an hour. And, by "cable" I mean TV, phone, and internet. If we hadn't had cell phones, we'd have been completely cut off from the outside world. And, God knows you can't have that in this day and age. Catherine had another bubble bath, but she wasn't so enthusiastic about it - I think she was tired.

Yesterday we cleaned, and my dad and brother came over for burgers (Mom's on a European cruise with her cousin). And then we watched the remainder of the Harry Potter marathon, until In Plain Sight came on.

The dog is still doing okay. The dog diapers I got, despite saying they were for dogs up to 95 pounds, did not fit him. So I expect to have many messes to clean up tonight, and that we're going to have to get professional carpet cleaners in after he goes. Even that may not help...but we've needed new flooring for a while.

Finally, in a very perverse way, I'm looking forward to hearing what Al Franken has to say in the Sotomayor hearings. I'm sure it will be a lot funnier than anything he EVER said as a comedian, even though he won't intend for it to be.
