Small Town Life, Revisited

Our new town is a lot like my college town, DeKalb. They're some Big Box stores in the area, but a thriving and interesting downtown. The people you meet are interesting and varied, partly because of the big city 2 hours away and the college ingrained in the town.

We spent the weekend working on our home. An arborist came by today and while we're pleased with the quote and his expertise it was his personality that won us. Not many times you meet people who are so genuine and earnest with strangers. After two hours of just small talk he left the house. He gave us plenty of leads for exploration and I hope we'll keep in touch post-work.

Last night we went to a... bar? restaurant? An establishment that didn't know what it didn't want to be. There was a bar that took a lot of space, pool tables, and oversized games. Awesome. But you had to wait to be seated and a waitress was responsible for getting your food. A. WAITRESS. A new business with a surge in popularity only staffed one waitress.

Long story short, it was a disappointment. But not a bad evening.
