Sorry this is a Writing Thursday, I went to a friend's house yesterday and didn't get home until after 2 AM. Last week's post detailed the powers of two of my elementally-powered characters from Gloves Off, and this week I worked on the other three. I'll just copy and paste from my last entry so they're all in the same place.
Henry Elliot - Electricity
Harmony Fletcher - Air
Noel ? - Fire
Meredith Merlaine - Water
Trevor Woodson - Plants
Henry "charges" electrical and battery-powered devices with a jolt from his hand. How long they last depends on how much strength he puts into it, and he can go so far as to overload machines. He is able to start small fires, and sometimes larger ones if he's working with something very dry and flammable, like how lightning turns plants into brushfires. He can deliver shocks to other people, anything from a fatal electrocution to playful static, and can also influence the path and magnitude of natural lightning.
Harmony can make small objects levitate and fly short distances. She works her way up to larger ones, and even experiments with human flight when she's an adult. If she uses enough force, she can blast holes in walls and break things apart. Her control over air allows her to physically exert herself, as she is never short of breath. She cannot be strangled or suffocated. She can use air to cushion or stop the impact of anything falling, including herself and other people. She also uses her powers for smaller everyday purposes, such as drying clothes and taming hair.
Noel has the ability to generate fire from his fingertips as well as from his mouth, like a firebreather. He can control the path and strength of those fires, and most other ones he comes across. The larger the fire, the more difficult it is for him to control, which he's self-conscious about. He can touch fire and not be harmed, and can protect others from burns. He prefers to use his powers for defensive purposes, rather than offensive, when he's faced with a conflict, and will often create a wall of fire to keep antagonists away. Because of his control over flame, he is an excellent cook when it comes to dishes over the stove, and he makes glass as a hobby.
Meredith's powers are similar to Noel's in that she can shoot water out of her hands and control water that already exists, to a certain extent. She can move waves, start floods, form a barrier between herself and the rain, and draw the water out of wet objects. She uses powerful streams of water to knock people down and blast holes in things. She could even drown enemies if she wants. She cannot be drowned herself, and is never dehydrated. As she gets older and more bitter about her life, her powers become almost exclusively focused on ice.
Trevor has power over plants, including the ability to create them. He can make trees change their shape to be easier to climb, grow taller to allow a climber to see farther, and fall over to create a bridge. It takes extra effort, but he can carve wood without tools. He can ensnare people with vines or trap them in hedge mazes. He loves flowers, and is constantly conjuring them from his hands, or trailing them in his footsteps, or even breathing out petals. The ability to make plants appear from nowhere includes vegetables, which allows him to feed himself and his friends easily, even if Noel is the one doing the cooking. Thorns never pierce his skin, and he is invulnerable to any poision made from plant materials.
