Ok, wow. Whoever's controlling the rain pattern in Dubai is either drunk or is feeling very naughty today. A little too naughty for comfort.
The spanking new skyline of this side of rain-washed Dubai - the construction's not yet complete. See how gray and sexy the clouds are?
The view of the home across the backyard. I was actually trying to capture the dark color of the clouds, but whatever.
Still more construction, just to the right of the buildings in the first picture. I just hope there were no casualties in this storm because it was really, really windy & it could've done some damage, I'm sure.
My faithful lawn chair - sitting in my mirpeset [balcony]!. The wood's prob'ly all rotten by now.. but I couldn't have saved it 'cause the storm started when I was asleep.
And after the fattest, grayest and stormiest clouds has passed, some sunlight managed to seep through. Yay!
I thoroughly enjoyed this storm. There was lightning and thunder too! Somebody should make an audio disc with only and only sounds of the storm on it - like the sound of rain against the window, thunder, the wind in the trees.. mmm.
My uncle and aunt, who live across the street, recently extended their home by having a foyer constructed on their porch. The ceiling of above the foyer isn't properly waterproofed. So you can guess, we had a
Hurricane Harbor [minus the fun tube slides, of course] right there in their foyer, with the water leaking like crazy through the ceiling. The light bulbs in the foyer's ceiling stopped working without warning [must've been a short circuit] and then all of the lights on their ground floor stopped working. Gah.. so we put buckets under the places where the water was leaking through, and regularly emptied them into the kitchen's sink.
The floor was all puddles, so we had to spread the newspaper on it to let it absorb whatever water it could. Didn't help much. Later, when the storm was on a lunch break, we swept the water out using a wiper, mopped up the place and dried it as much as we could.
My room was a little wet too.. the water went under the computer's desk, but thankfully no damage was done. Now I must get back to worshiping some random god and praying that I don't come down with pneumonia - yes, I ran through heavy rain to my aunt's house and back. Thrice.
