Two of my favorite people were born today, three years apart from each other:
1.
Maryam, my dah-ling cousin in Tex-ass. I so wish I was sharing a cone of ice-cream from Coldstone with her right now.. mmmm!
2. Zahabiya, my talkative cousin who has the traits of a lawyer, but is fortunately majoring in biotechnology [or genetic engineering, I'm not sure]. Gosh, I haven't seen her since the summer of 2003!
One of my favorite Israeli singers also died on this day, six years ago. Ofra Haza, the little Yemenite girl from a poor neighborhood in Tel Aviv who grew to be one of the most recognized Israeli artists around the globe died at the young age of 42, on February 23rd, 2000 after contracting AIDS from a blood transfusion.
Ofra in her younger days.
Ofra, somewhere in the '90s.
May her memory be a blessing.
