I had a pretty productive Friday today.
In the morning, I studied for my Chemistry test next week.
After lunch with the family, Ammi dropped me off to this place in Jumeirah for a gathering/gala/funfair thing organized by the Children's Hope foundation or something like that. All I knew was that it was at the residence of the owner of
Ajmal perfumes.. she's got a huge backyard. Anyways, since I'm part of the Best Buddies Organization, I got in for free [entry was charged at AED 50 for others]. Not a lot of our Best Buddies group had showed up. Yousuf and my other friends weren't there, so I was pretty much on my own. The funfair had games, of course, and there was a serious shortage of stall-managers. So I paired up with Aditya to manage this football game where kids [and adults too!] could kick a spongy ball into a goal and get a point. Points could be redeemed for things like stuffed toys, board games etc. at another stall.
So anyways, I had a blast doing that. Lots of kids and one cute guy showed up to kick the ball in. Surprisingly, many even missed the goal. I shouldn't judge, though, 'cause I kick like a grandma with arthritis. There were even some special needs children who came.
After hogging on a packet of chips and like three packets of juice, I hopped onto the bus that took us to the American University of Dubai. A bunch of students at AUD had thrown us a party and raised some money for special needs organizations. On the bus, I sat next to Sameera who took the candy from my goody bag and slipped it into her's. She went one step further.. she gulped down the banana milk out of its little carton and then handed me the empty carton to put into my goody bag, 'cause there was no bin around. Then she said, "Give me your face." I brought my face closer and she gave me a little kiss on the head. Such warmth, I tell you.
At AUD, we played passing-the-parcel, with a ball. I got bumped out of the game pretty soon because the music stopped when I had the ball. So I had to go dance in the middle of the ring. They were playing Sunidhi Chauhan's Sajnaji Vaari-Vaari.. how could I not shake booty?!
Now I'm back home, tired and sleep from all the fun/work/dancing/eating. I'm not really in the mood to attend tomorrow's Biology extra class - it's Saturday! The day of the LORD! ;) Apart from that, I don't really feel like getting up at 06:00 and rushing off to school to spend three hours in that poorly ventilated classroom. But I have to go.
