Something scary

I was jogging around my neighborhood today, and I had almost reached the lake [the one that stinks - and still has ducks living in it] when I looked to the left and saw a black Mitsubishi 4x4 driving by. Well, actually I looked at the person driving it.
It was Mr D'Souza. He was the supervisor of the boys in my school, last year. This year, he has been promoted to vice-principal of St Mary's Catholic High School.

And I saw him drive by me, concentrating on the road as if it were a busy highway full of fast-moving cars when in reality it was a neigbhorhood road with zero traffic.

And maybe this is a frightening coincidence or a very apt cosmic joke, but at the exact moment that he drove by me, I was listening to the song Paranoia by Achinoam Nini on my MP3 player, and she was singing this very line: "...ve-zeh mafcheed nora..." which means, "...and this is terribly scary..."

I almost stopped in my tracks when I saw him drive past me. And I try very hard not to stop jogging until I reach home. There are a few things that can make me stop while I'm jogging and one of them is Abeer jogging behind me, pulling her butt along slowly. And now, apparently, Mr D'Souza's on that list too!
