I'm not a big resolution person, I find them a little silly since 78% are never kept. They just feel like empty promises. But I do make goals for myself throughout the year and generally keep those, and this year it just so happens that I'm in need of making a few goals and its also new years. So here it goes, goals for 2010:
1. "Eat Foood. Not too much. Mostly plants". Ok so this one is stolen from a book, but it does agree with the way I want to move forward, eating wise. I'm going to do a lot of cooking, maybe even more than I have been, being concious of process foods and removing them from my diet, and once the farmers markets come back, it's gonna be all I eat, short of milk and meats. Fresh food just tastes wonderful, and I'm gonna get on with 2010 eating nothing but the freshest.
2. Hiking, hiking, and more hiking. This comes from two different aspects. First, I'm going to Peru in May, and that will involve some walking at 12,000ft which is not so easy to do. I have issues doing things at 6,000ft! So to get in shape for that, I need to get out and work in my boots, expand the lungs and get in shape. (Which also will hopefully help me to lose some weight, which is a secondary resolution) The second reason is because I want to see more of nature, and see more of colorado. So I want to go and hike around, see the mountains, the indian ruins, and whereever else I may find something. People have photos of elk and foxes that they run into, I want those too.
3. Reading. Because life is so busy I hesitate to put down an actual number of books. In general I like to read. Its relaxing, often interesting, and a great past time, but I just don't get around to selecting the next book, and before you know I haven't read a book in months. So I want to read more, even if its just plugging through a single book the whole year, I want to do it.
4. Do major cleaning less often, and do little cleaning more often. My apartment is often a mess (like now...big messes is places), and I need to have it cleaner. But I leave it to long and then it becomes a major task, no longer just doing one load of laundry but needing to do it all, or doing tons of dishes, or whatever. So I want to do less major cleaning, and more minor. My study needs to be completed, and thankfully I have the final tools in place to get that done. So thats the imediate project for 2010, get things cleaned, then it will be an on going project just to maintain everything, so I don't get stressed about the mess.
... There really aren't anymore. I have some personal ones, I have some general "be happy" sorta thoughts, but those are the big ones that deserve to be written down and followed.
Happy New Year everyone! I hope 2010 brings more happy moments and good memories than 2009 did, and fewer bad ones.
