Weekend fun

Saturday
Spent most of Saturday in the attic installing a ceiling fan support kit and finalizing the wiring to the gable fan. The wiring we spliced the gable fan into are reversed so there was an easily fixed short. During a break in the install process, we ventured to the Dive Shop in Fairfax for Sunday's dive. Unfortunately, they only rent 2-piece wetsuits which Chris couldn't fit into.

Sunday
After a labored wakeup, Michael and I headed to Lake Millbrook for our dive. The quarry was not a good first dive experience. Vertical and horizontal visibility were no better than 5 feet at any given time. The rear inflation BC's with integrated weights (important) we rented kept pitching me forward on the surface, so I'm clearly going to avoid them from here on. The temperature up to 24' was nice, but once we hit the thermocline and ventured into 37' it was unbearable. I also had significantly more difficulty equalizing my ears than at Bainbridge. The worst part of the trip was when I realized that my tank had come loose. I calmly set down on a platform, removed my BC and proceeded to buckle my tank into place. Very quickly my legs started float up making it difficult to stay on the platform. Determined, I held onto the gear and continued to retry the buckles. After a minute, my buoyancy was completely lost and as I was about to inflate the BC and surface, Michael came down and redid the buckle as I held on. Slipping the gear back on was easy and we were continued on our dive. I had decided that the 'convenience' of BC with integrated weight system is not for me. I have never had problems with weight belts and during events such as this, having the weights on my physical person would have eliminated my buoyancy drama. I wasn't thrilled with my equipment or the quarry but I do appreciate having a problematic first dive as the experience was invaluable.

Having returned home I've instantly noticed that the upstairs is much cooler now because of the gable fan, added insulation, and bedroom ceiling fan.
