PART 1
so here's the breakdown of one of the worst nights ive had in a long time.
so of course, to start, all of my car troubles happen when its snowing. Breakdown of time--5:45 im heading to my audition, which im super nervous about, and I decide "hey, this audition takes places in a barn (yes a barn but it was a nice barn) so i should get some water." I go to the gas station in my functioning car--all is well. I go back to the car and put my keys in the ignition--and its locked up. The breaks are locked, the wheel is tight and the shift wont do anything. and the keys wont budge. This has happened before, so i just kinda jam the keys in and out, to no avail. So i start freaking out (did i mention im quitting smoking as well? this is only on one cigarette for the day.) My audition is at 6:30, in Sun Prairie, (about 15-20 minutes away, give or take for the weather) and it is now almost 6 p.m. I call my father, I call Melyssa, I call Jeff--anyone who can help me who's been with me or has heard from this situation before. With all of their tips and tricks, i have no luck. I'm BAWLING crying right now--I've prepped and waited for this audition for a long time.
about 6:15 p.m.--I have my father go into my work email and get the number of the President and Producer of the show I was going to audition for. I called the Producer, who I've been emailing, and through my tears told her my situation. She said to sit tight--she was going to drive from Sun Prairie and pick me up so I could go. I couldn't believe it--she's the coolest lady i've ever met. EVER. So we got off the phone at about 6:25...I had to have a cig. So in the freezing snowy rain, I had a smoke, but only about half of it. I waited until right about 7 p.m. until the producer came and got me. She greeted me with a big hug--man i love this lady already. In that halfhour ish before she came, I tried to make my car work a million times more--no luck.
7:15--we arrive at the auditions, where there's a room full of people, and about 8 people sitting on the directing staff board--so many assistants and stuff. I've come at the end of the singing audition, so I go last. I decided that I heard some pretty quiet auditions and wanted to bust something out--I sang "Swing" from Wonderful Town. I was happy with it. So then we learned the begining of one of my favorite songs from the show, which was fun. They had me sing twice--the only female who did. This makes me pretty happy. Go the dancing--easy stuff, i guess the choreographer was working with another group for a bit so we didnt have anything too tricky for that. it was more fun than anything--Think the Copa audition dance and add 5 points of fun. That was about it for that. We got to the reading part and I read first--I was thinking "oh great, now I wont read forever and i'll get bored" after the less than a page reading I was called up to read yet again, right away. That was cool, but then I was REALLY thinking "dammit i will be sitting here forever." after that, they stopped reading. no one else read--it was weird, unless I missed the reading in the begining but I dont think I did. So that made me feel good with this shitty night. After that, the Producer took me to look at their KICK ASS 6 rooms of stuff--costumes, props, platforms, uniforms, period pieces, you name it. SO VERY COOL!
8:15--we leave the audition (im hoping to hear back tomorrow) and she drives me back to Madison. we had some nice chats--have i mentioned how much i like this lady? We go back to my car--still a p.o.s. so she took me home to Zack. Called the father, my brother, and john but decided to go out in the storm and go to the car to figure it out. still nothing, so we call a tow truck.
9:30--tow truck arrives, drives us to the car ex where my car is now sitting. $82 later, he asks us how we're getting home. at that time, we ponder, and see the bus we would take home drive by--another one not coming for another hour. we put the keys in the drop box and start walking
10:30--tow truck man sees us walking and gives us a ride back to the gas statino where my car was. nice guy. we walk back to the apartment.
Zack rules for being such an awesome guy--I've cried more tears tonight than a while. Thanks to my friends and sorry I couldnt really talk--on top of all of THAT, my phone had barely any battery left. I am going to bed, ready to drop. I get to look forward to another first experience in Madison--riding the bus. I am scared shitless im gonna get killed or something. I hate my life.
P.S--I wanted to wait until later, but most people know already--the show I auditioned for was the Sun Prairie Community Theatre's Production of BIG: The Musical. It'll never be the same as Quince, but I hoping it will be fun.
emilee out.
PART 2
So it's 7:04 a.m.
