My goodness, I haven't logged into LJ in literally years. :p
Anyway, I was on Goodreads earlier and saw an ad that reminded me of this. Back in like I think the late 2000s, there was this book (series?) written by a teenage girl (13-15, I believe) and it was said to be absolutely, hilariously terrible. I think the word "bridge(s?)" may have been in the title, along with a made-up word that I'm pretty sure started with M. I think the cover had some kind of terrible art of a woman that was like half human and half alien thing? I also remember the author (and/or her parents) declaring this was going to be like the Greatest Book Series Ever and I remember seeing a picture of her posing with her book on the bestseller shelves at a bookstore, but the book was in EVERY top 10 spot. Also I seem to remember she had plans for like a theme park or something, as well :p This is all I can remember, anyone have any idea what I'm talking about? EDIT: Found, it's the Maradonia Saga by Gloria Tesch.
Oh! And while I'm posting, what's the trope (from TV Tropes) where someone has a near-perfect disguise, but they forget one small but crucial detail that eventually gives them away? EDIT: Found, "Impostor Forgot One Detail".
