Random scene

Okay I seriously have no idea if this is from a book, TV show, or movie (although I'm leaning toward one of the latter two) but I suddenly got a random scene playing in my head: basically a person (girl/woman I think?) is slowly walking into a lake/pond and drowns herself. I don't think I ever saw/read Hamlet, although I might have seen a clip/trailer from a movie of it if there was one. Gonna put this one in the "maybe" pile.

The tragic figure of a woman drowning herself is pretty common in fiction, but could it be the character of Blanche in Possession?

It's been a long time since I've read it, but the main character drowns herself at the end of the book The Awakening. Idk if there've been any film adaptations of it, though.
