Book help: story about people travelling on boats through tunnels?
I found this description on another site, and the story sounds really intriguing:
"I read a fragment of this book in a reader in middle school: the entire society is just boats passing through dark tunnels, and one kid becomes convinced they're going in circles, and decides the only way to prove it is to jump out of the boat and hope they circle back to him."
I know it's not much to go on, but maybe it'll ring a bell with someone?
