song - unknown artist, title, year plz help?

I downloaded a misnamed file 7+ years ago, that turned out to be a song I quite like - except I still have no idea who is singing it or what the title is. I've tried to plug in snippets of the lyrics, into Google and I don't get any results back that even remotely resemble this song. I can't find the lyrics or possible artist on the net anywhere.

So I've transcribe them here, best I could, in hopes that someone will recognize it immediately. I had some trouble understanding the singer as he has a heavy British?/Irish? sounding accent (I have Canadian ears and I'm not so goodly at differentiating between other English speaking accents, especially singing - apologies) and it's sort of a fast paced song; kinda bouncy.

From what I can make out, the song seems to be from a dad to his toddler son about how his perspective has changed since his son was born. This singer has a way of mentioning things about life with a toddler and the bond between parent and child. He describes so succinctly the joy and wonder of being a parent. Tired of seeing unknown artist - title unknown in my library. >.<

Where do you go?
I don't know

Hello my friend
You don't know me yet
Or 'bout your people going into the world
Cuz you've already won me over
Though you haven't said a word

I can lay my head upon your chest
To hear the sound of your tiny heart beating too
You're big enough to show me now
That you hear it beating for yourself

You know that
You're so strange
Bud, I love ya
Yes I love ya

Well those butterflies that I got first time
Are when I kissed my first girl on the lips
Although this feeling's nothing new
This time they're flyin' for you

When the circus came to town
My heart wasn't in it
Cuz you weren't around
It was lost on me
Always lost on me

Around and round and round the room
Small hands are so destructive
Your playground is our brand new carpet
I'm trying to reach the firing range
And your innocence excuses you
Impatient and disruptive

Now crash friend
Why not? The world is waiting
Let's smash it face it
Got nothing to lose
Nothing that's loose

Sweetness and the joy you bring
And I love ya
Yes I love ya
La la la la la la

Well where you go
Oh nobody knows
Bud, I know we're living this together
Oh when the circus came to town
My heart wasn't in it
Cuz you weren't around

Bud, I love ya
Yes I love ya

Well those butterflies that I got first time
Are when I kissed my first girl on the lips
Bud, I still loved her
Yes I loved her
Because the sweetness and the joy you bring
Bud, I love ya
Yes I love ya

OP note: Final edit! While adding a working link to the song (at 4shared - can listen to part of it without downloading), marykris found it for me via shazaam! It's called Hello My Friend by Jel ... my more than seven year mystery is finally solved yay! \o/ :D I ♥ this comm forever now! :D

Thanks again to marykris, for all your help!
Jel - 1998 - All The Blinding Menace - 08 - Hello My Friend.mp3

The tentative title I had given it, so that I could find it on my computer when I wanted to play it, turned out to be correct, so I've adjusted the 4shared file name accordingly. :D
