I'm looking for a romance novel I read I was a pre-teen, so it must have come out in the mid-90's(or before that). It was not a Harlequin novel but a hardcover. I read it in Finnish but it was originally written in some other language, I'm assuming English but not 100% sure.
The sub-genre is historical romance, I'm assuming the story takes place in the 18th or 19th century. The main character is a woman from an impoverished but noble family, and a marriage is arranged with a rich man who wants the social status of marrying someone with a title. Prior to marriage she dyes her hair blond for some reason. After the marriage the man immediately leaves their home to go somewhere else and doesn't show any interest in his new wife. She decides to go after him, pretending to be someone else now that she's grown out her natural(curly?) red hair. She also wears a green gown or green jewelry with the name eau de Nile or something similarly "French-sounding". Obviously he falls in love with her, she reveals her identity and they live happily ever after etc.
