Once upon a time, in elementary school, I read this book.
I don't remember much about it, but I know it involved a little girl who was raised by her mother, and they were really poor. I remember, in one part, her mother basically set her out and made her perform for money...and then I remember the part where the girl ate a bunch of snacks. And it took place in Canada.
I know, this is a long shot...but it's been bothering me for, like, years. So glad I found this community, haha.
If it helps, I swear the girl's name was Zoe or something.
