 This may be a long shot, but there was a web comic 5 or 6 years ago called Kill the City that was drawn in black and white, maybe with some color accents. The style was very similar to the way Gorillaz (the band) are drawn. I remember that the site went down without any further forwarding information and now whenever I Google it, nothing relevant

The Wayback Machine has several versions of the site's white layout, but no images unfortunately. In a 2006 interview, the artist Tessa Stone said she hasn't been able to continue "Kill The City", but hopefully that will change in the future. I did manage to find a sketch of Joe on her deviantART account. There may be more sketches in the gallery.
