Another chicken cooking question

Jan 09, 2010 19:43

I've been reading through the tags lately (it's one of my goals for this year to try at least two new recipies per month) and I keep coming across the advice to not use chicken breasts in the crock pot and instead use thighs.

I'm just wondering what it is that I'm doing that makes my chicken breasts turn out tasty and not dry? I don't usually use chicken broth with them, either a cream of mushroom soup or onion soup with salsa and sour cream, and they're usually in for... 5 hours, maybe 6. I usually cook alternating every hour or so between low and high (high burns it but with chicken I dont' want to just cook it on low cause I always forget to put it in until the last minute), and it's a 2 quart, but I've done the same recipies in my mother in laws 5 quart and they've been fine.

Would you say it's the length of time I use and/or the soups I use with them?
