Just got a crock pot last night for my dorm room! :) Im so happy. I did an impromptu food attempt with a pork roast/stir fry veggies/herb + garlic marinade/water because I wasn't patient enough to look for a real recipe beforehand. About 8 hrs on low and 1/2 an hr on high later... It came out alright! Veggies are a mush and a bit too tangy but the pork is delicious and falling apart.
-My pot does not have a keep warm setting unfortunately.. and I don't have a microwave to heat up cold food. Can I just use one of the low or high settings to reheat food? I obviously didnt think this through!
-A lot of recipes call for browning or precooking the vegetables. I dont have a stove here either obviously so can I skip that or avoid those recipes? I'd love to make things like chili but I know I brown the meat beforehand, I dont know how it is for crock pots.
-Also because of the lack of appliances, is it possible to heat up water using it? Id use it to make tea or ramen, etc. Or rice/pasta!
