Hastings needs an exploratory surgery that will cost in the $3000 range which has a 25% chance of fixing his problem and a 75% chance of diagnosing his problem. If it doesn't fix his problem, he'll need another surgery which will most likely be double the cost of the exploratory surgery. He has a stricture in his lower intestine, his organs are inflamed, there's a mass that has not been identified yet, and he has bad fluid build up. His operation needs to be done in the next few weeks otherwise he doesn't really have a chance of survival.
I've been referred to two vet teaching hospitals (WSU and UGA) and I'm going to compare the cost. Animal care is much cheaper down south, so it is possible that traveling to UGA to have these surgeries done will be cheaper than having them done out here.
My poor baby. I'm going to have to work with the overtime crew for the next two months to pay this off. He's worth it.
