Christmas 2006

It was a pretty jam-packed time. First, I had to work X-Mas Eve until 3:30p, then wisked away by Nichi to the get-together over in Sherwood with her mother's side of the family... 20+ in attendance! Food was a given, but this one had a White Elephant exchange. I stole a Scene It? DVD board game from her sister's BF, which was stolen by her cousin... then I got a cool multi-purpose knife, which was stolen by her dad... then I finally got a set of drinking glasses. Nichi got a smoothie machine. Sister's 4-year-old kid kept telling people to give stuff back to each other. He's got a future in politics, that one.

Next day, we went across town to her parents' house for a gift exchange, then over to her grandparents' house for a multiple-quiche breakfast and another gift exchange with 15 people in attendance. I scored a cool sweater from Nichi and I got her Arwen's Pendant.

We finally got a few hours of rest before finally heading over to my parents' place in town. There was food and gifts, but I guess the highlight was that we watched several episodes of American Chopper and realized it was something all five of us liked watching, which is rare these days, I think.

Scored some extra money from my folks and so the day after Christmas I bought a nice snazzy new five-foot-wide TV stand, though I had to go to several stores to find this particular credenza, and I had to wait 15 minutes outside a loading dock in the pouring rain at night, and it almost didn't fit in the car, and we almost couldn't lift into the house, but it's finally set up and now I just need to get going on getting a new TV (I am waiting for price drops or improvements that always seem to show up right after I buy something like this).

Later that night, my brother and I went out and saw Rocky Balboa. Never seen a Rocky movie before, but now I really wanna see his whole story. It's sentimental and sappy at times, but it doesn't seem fake or like it's there to make money. Stallone had something to say, is all.

Also played DDR Supernova in the movie theater's arcade (it's an awesome theater)... DDR's still fun to play every now and then. I actually broke out the last one I got, MAX2, tonight and realized there were still songs to unlock. Will probably get Supernova (PS2) at some point in the future.

Did I mention we went to see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra live a few weeks ago? This was actually my first ever music concert and it was really great. We had 13th-row floor seats and we went almost deaf and blind from all the lights and sounds and RAWK. She wants us to go every time they come into town now... hopefully next time I'll remember to have cash ready for the parking garage, d'ohh! Suffice to say, they play the greatest Christmas music ever and I look forward to their next album.

Now I have the next few days off, hopefully we can clean up the house and maybe I can sneak in some Disgaea 2 time when she's not playing Twilight Princess on her Gamecube. Not likely!
