A brief return visit to the department of they don't make lawyers any more stupid than this for an update:

Andrew Shirvell has been fired.

With apparently no sense of irony, his lawyers are now complaining that he has been victimised and publicly pilloried. Sorry, what? I was laughing too loud over repeat playing of Shirvell's interview with AndersonRead more... )

Give that Cox is, I believe elected by the people of Michigan to the AG post, he'll probably keep his job as long as the people keep electing him.

Glad Shirvell got canned though.

Actually, Mike Cox has already lost his job, though not in the way you mean. He was term limited out this year. Michigan limits most state officials to two 4-year terms, and this is Mike Cox's last year on the job. He ran for governor, but lost in the primary. He'll be doing something else come January 2011.

Yet another reason why Shirvell's claims that his firing is politically motivated is ridiculous. Cox was already a lame duck when this happened; getting reelected would have had no bearing in his decisions.
