Took them long enough!
A brief return visit to the department of they don't make lawyers any more stupid than this for an update:
Andrew Shirvell has been fired.
With apparently no sense of irony, his lawyers are now complaining that he has been victimised and publicly pilloried. Sorry, what? I was laughing too loud over repeat playing of Shirvell's interview with Anderson Cooper to hear you.
The question now is how long will Mike Cox (Michigan's AG) keep his job? Honestly, how much reflection does it take to realise that stalking and harassing a private citizen is not conduct becoming a state employee? Let alone that the homophobic attitudes and behaviour exhibited by Shirvell would be considered prejudicial in any prosecution he was involved in where homosexuality played any part (eg the sexuality of any actor, or a gay hate-crime - you name it).
If Shirvell is "a loose cannon with a law licence", then surely Cox is an embarrassment in possession of a public mandate.
