I've been playing around with using hand sewn fabric (fleece and eco-felt) embellishments. It's been super fun! I am rubbish at reading patterns (still) so these are all free handed, "crochet as I go" type dealies. :D ( Read more... )

Before the giant Japanese cat, the first Japanese pattern I tried to follow was for a giraffe.  This was right before I learned where to find hook size in the Japanese patterns, so she turned out really big because I used whatever hook I happened to have in my hand, but that's okay.  I decided to compensate with giant pink plastic skull earrings.  ( Read more... )

A friend of mine is to depart on a 3-year training on a different continent shortly, and I asked him whether he wanted me to make him an ami to remember his friends left behind - and he said he wanted a giraffe. So I made him a giraffe.
