So, the latest of the NL postseason action...
Philadelphia 6, Milwaukee 2
(Series 3-1, Phillies)
Phillies go yard to take the wind out of the Brewers sails and claim a place in the Championship Series.
The Phillies got in early, starting as they meant to go on, with Jimmy Rollins hitting a home run in the opening at-bat of the game.
Two innings later in the top of the 3rd, they piled on more pain for the Brewers in the form of four runs - Shane Victorino doubled on a pop up to 3rd and moved to 3B on a Chase Utley ground out. The Brewers then offered up an intentional walk to Ryan Howard, to bring Pat Burrell to the plate - a move that ended up biting them on the ass as he went yard for a three RBI homer to left field. Jayson Werth then went back-to-back - the ball this time flying to left-center for the HR.
Milwaukee managed to put a run on the board in the bottom of the 7th - a right-center field home run for Prince Fielder. However, Pat Burrell kept the lead to four runs in the bottom of the inning with yet another Phillies home run - again to left field.
The Brewers tacked on a further run in the 8th - Mike Cameron reached on a line drive to center and advanced to 3B on Ray Durham ground out and scoring Ryan Braun base hit. However, they were unable to create any more opportunities for scoring - leaving the Phillies to close the NL Division action and take the series, and their place in the NLCS against the Dodgers.
Phillies: 6 runs on 10 hits with no errors.
Brewers: 2 runs on 8 hits with no errors.
