Get the ark, the basement's flooded.
May's monsoon rains overloaded the storm sewers, so it backed up into the basement, leading to a flood at least 3 feet deep. This happened Wednesday afternoon when a neighbor came over to use my phone. His was out of order. We looked and there was a few inches already. I'm thankful there's nothing much done there, just concrete walls, floor, and a ping pong table.
Some comics were on shelves, but they're damaged and will be tossed.
Called my insurance agent and asked for some recommendations for disaster cleanup companies.
Naturally, they were deluged with calls. A man finally came out, gave me an estimate, and said
their crew would bring out pumps late yesterday. Pumps got pushed back until today. When the water's drained, they'll power-wash everything. Too bad I didn't have flood coverage, so it is
coming out of my pocket. I did add the flood coverage to the house insurance policy for the future though.
When all is said and done, the furnace and water heater will have to be checked out and pilot lights relit.
