The Insomnia Fairy has blessed me again.

Couldn't sleep so I watched Ichi the Killer again to make myself feel better. I adore that movie. YES YES YES it is about as sick and demented as they come. But it's also brilliant. I LOVE Takashi Miike. And I RILLY RILLY love Tadanobu Asano. I mean, in an unhealthy way. OMIGOD I forgot how gorgeous that boy

YES Zebra Man was so cute! And I really liked Happienss of the Katikuris, have you seen that one? It's a black comedy, but not really violent, just silly. It's a musical. And sometimes everybody turns into claymation people, for no good reason.

I loved Oldboy, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, and Sympathy for Lady Vengeance, but they are all hard to watch. And yeah--I really liked Audition, but since it's such a "gotcha" I don't really want to see it more than once. Has Gary seen Miike's episode of Masters of Horror? It was so disturbing that HBO wouldn't show it. It's quite awesome though.

How great that you're back in school! I'll bet being a science writer would really be fun. My step-brother used to do that, way back in Omni Magazine days.

Sorry to hear Gary hates his job. What does he do?

Yep, Daniel got laid off. Don't know how things are going to end up, so I'm cleaning out the house in case we need to sell it. It's kinda scary, how much crap we had stashed away. Crikey. At least I can sell some of it on eBay!

I'm bummed about Spring's job situation too. She sounds so miserable. At least it's almost summer.

I let Gary watch Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance and Sympathy for Lady Vengeance. I should have watched them, but he got a lot of stuff while I was in school and I used that as an excuse. Gary said he thinks it was a masterpiece of sickeningness, but he didn't like the main character at all. He's almost embarrassed to say he didn't like it because it was sickening in all the ways he could appreciate, but--there you are.

The Bird People in China is another I can handle. I might be interested in Visitor Q. Gary saw it with a bunch of his buddies once and was too distracted, so he wants to see it again. Gozu sounds really weird. He said it didn't move well but had some good scenes. Gary thought The Happiness of the Katakuris was just too silly.

Oh, did you hear Tadanobu Asano is in a movie called Mongol about Ghengis Khan? Big Russian "Oscar for Best Foreign Film" type movie. He plays the young Khan while he's still Temudjin. Could be interesting.

I'm sorry about Daniel. I hope you don't lose the house--that would be awful! Plus I hope Spring finds a better job. I'm so mad about what Baycon did to her. There was totally enough room in the Dealer's Room for her. It was a pretty lame dealer's room, to be honest. At least Darth Perky seems to finally be getting herself into trouble.

Gary is a tech writer now. He actually kinda likes the writing part, but the job has so much garbage attached--I swear, I never saw anything like it.

But I get to work there for the summer! Should be interesting....
