I think the IUD insertion gave me a yeast infection. They never explicitly mentioned the risk before it but after the procedure they did tell me to come back if I had any yellow smelly discharge. My tummy hurts :( It's been hurting for the past week. I'm not sure if it's related to the IUD or not but I'll mention it anyway so if I get rushed to hospital with a perforated internal organ or TSS any time soon I can look back and point to how stupid I was to ignore such obvious symptoms. It's actually settled down pretty well now. About 10 hours after the insertion procedure the nasty cramps had eased off to a dull abdominal ache (with the very occasional stabbing gut pain that lasted less than a second). Hurt like a fuckin' bitch going in.

Mostly that's due to the fact that I haven't had children (nulliparous is the medical term) and my cervix is still teeny-tiny.
