I'm just looking for some opinions. We'll do pre-game photos. The ceremony will be around 11 AM. It will last around an hour and then we will have some time to take some more photos with the family and then go to the reception around 1 or 1:30 PM. Because of the time, price, and awkwardness of our friends and families (clergy and mathematicians, haha), there will not be a dance and the festivities will wrap up by about 4. This time has to do with the venue and cost but it works for us because we'll probably be beat anyway. However, I don't want to leave my guests all hanging with nothing to do for the evening so I was thinking we might find a hip joint in Minneapolis or St. Paul and tell people that we'll have an informal continuation of the party at this time and this place. Or I might see if any of my local friends with big houses would want to host a BYOB kind of after party with games and such.
I feel like I might be slightly letting people down by not providing a dance, but neither of us is really into the dance thing. I want people to feel like they got to have a party, but also don't want to spend a lot of money for something that's just not important to us. Did anybody else choose to forego the dance thing? Did anybody complain or act surprised?
