Hello! I just happened across this today and it was great timing as we're getting down to the wire on choosing a wedding location. We've gotten quotes from about 30 locations found through HereComestheGuide.com and WeddingCompass.com already, but only 3 or 4 are even near our price range.
Wedding Date: Nov 5th or 6th, 2011 (got engaged July 18th, 2011)
Bride/Groom/Other: Bride
City/State you live in: Orange County, Southern California
Wedding Colors: Dark Green, Light Blue, Ivory
Formality: Medium
Number of guests: 85-110
How long have you been together?: 6 years
We're trying to do everything for as much under 10k as possible (so having the ceremony+reception+food being no more than 4-5k basically), but still not make our friends and family have to do set-up/take-down. We're trying to get as "cheap" of a location for an indoor reception as possible, but also have affordable good food. For our ceremony we'd like a garden location, but a pretty church is fine too. We like the idea of a brunch/lunch reception and are okay with finding our own caterer. We are not having alcohol (other than possibly champagne toast), so that both cuts out a huge amount of cost and makes location searching easier.
1) Any suggestions for ceremony/reception venues or websites or how to look for venues?
- We're looking at public city locations and parks which seem to be awesomely cheap, but require doing everything ourselves or hiring a caterer.
- There's so many churches around that finding good wedding locations is nigh impossible unless they advertise so any suggestions for those would be great too.
- Backyard wedding is unfortunately out of the question because of the area where we live. Backyards are tiny. :(
2) Any caterer suggestions or websites or how to look for them?
- We have a friend's mother who wants to do it, but honestly she'd be stressed the entire time and we'd rather her enjoy the event.
- Nothing fancy necessary, just a good chicken dish or deli sandwiches for around/under $20 per person.
3) If we have to rent our own tables/chairs how much does that usually run?
- We don't need anything super fancy, but we would want table cloths.
