Taking a break from my big bang work (not that I really need a break from picspaming topless!sean bean...) to post my reaction to Criminal Minds (6x22) - which is mostly shallow, but partly to do with the case ( Read more... )

I had a moment, during the whole underwater scene, of thinking 'but they can't fire underwater'

Me too! That was the first thing I said. It just seemed off to me, for basically the same reason you said: old style guns were hella trouble in damp/wet conditions. I guess these newfangled guns are different.

Also, were you and I sharing a brain for this ep? Because I also criticized Morgan's CPR technique. Cause hey, chest compressions with no air aren't really gonna help her.

And in a trifecta, I also briefly wondered if the LEO was the unsub. Because he so conveniently found the body.

I have zero interest in Seaver. To me she's just not!JJ and not!Prentiss. They could have kept one of them and left her off completely.

Rossi and Hotch were adorable at the game. It's so funny that Rossi would agree to help with that, because he doesn't seem like the type.

There was not nearly enough Garcia or Reid to suit me. Although that's almost always the case unless the ep is focused on them.

LOL yeah, especially as I'm not quite sure how it is her heart had already stopped....*waves hands* we were probably meant to be more distracted by wet!hotch and wet!morgan (I got distracted by how fake!wet! Hotch was - cos the way his hair gel was - his hair was all floppy under the water *takes a moment to be shallow ( ... )

more distracted by wet!hotch and wet!morgan

Well, wet!Morgan is especially distracting. When they were going in the house, prior to that and he was holding his gun? Oh jeez, those arms were just making me drool. And I may have said aloud, "It should be illegal for one man to look that sexy".

there really needs to be an episode where the LEO IS the unsub - they've never done that

I think that would be a great twist. I know other shows have done it or at least I think I remember that. So it would be cool, I think.

See I like the idea of seaver, I just think they've failed totally at writing her Yes. Also, I think I harbor resentment about the whole "we can't afford AJ and Paget, but can afford some new chick" thing which really has nothing to do with the character and everything to do with the PTB behind the scenes. Which isn't fair to the character, but there you go ( ... )

Heh - I am a Hotch and Garcia girl, but I will allow that Morgan is pretty ;) especially if you stuck him in a room with Hotch and Garcia *fans self*my seaver fic is kinda weird - I have a partial draft - that's I'm poking - and it's complex cos it's seaver in semi-present as the focus (so the reader only knows what she does) and Hotch in his early bau days in the same role - and I think I need to seriously consider where it's going and rewrite what I've written (and have pre-retirement rossi be less of an arse ( ... )

Your Seaver fic sounds interesting.

I prefer Rossi over Gideon as well :)

I don't think I've ever seen anyone else say that. I always feel like I'm the only one who doesn't just adore Gideon. But I like how Rossi is less of a know it all. And I liked how he had started to bond with Prentiss.

I think they've just failed to find new writers who can write ensemble drama - which is a failing a lot - it's sad that they didn't just keep the writers they had, who could all write ensemble

I think you've nailed it on the head there. It's like they just don't know what to do with that many characters at one time. And I get that it would be hard, but why would you get rid of the writers who do it well??? And you know, I never really thought about it, but you're totally right about the CSIs. None of them are really great at ensemble, although the best of the three is New York, I think.

I have no idea if the criminal minds lot actually have a show bible (they need one, seriously) judging from the state of what the guy writing the three ( ... )

Yeah, Gideon could be a bit of an arse

Yeah, see the continuity thing had me muttering during the whole prentiss sotryline, cos on the one hand it was like she'd lied before, on the other Hotch apparently knew *waves hands around* - though eyeing fandom most of them don't remember some of the stuff I do (Katie Cole! I want moar old school girl profilers, we've not had any mentioned since season two)

Yeah I watched the first episode with badfalcon - by the end we had no idea who any of the characters were (they didn't introduce themselves) and we were offended that they called garcia 'P' so much - plus the opening reminded my of the A Team, and 'red' cell' makes me twitch (it should be white cell, cos white cells are tha fast repsonse, red cells just amble around with oxygen and iron - not that that really is relevant but that's what my brain thinks when it sees red cell ( ... )

But the ep was annoying, so I think it was pretty forgettable for people ( ... )

Yeah, I only remember the names because I have a strange memory for these things *g* (god that episode - twelve characters, all meant to be main o.O)

The thing that throws me is Garcia's red hair. Because on CM she currently has the blonde. So are we to assume that Suspect is occurring on a different time line than regular? Because that's just confusing. someone said somewhere that the last one was meant to be during corazon (miami, reid's headache flail) - I'm guessing a reference made them think that - so it's behind canon, so her hair should go blonde in, ummm, a few episodes ( ... )

SPN, I watched the first ep of s6, am now going to wait till it finishes airing then watch it in one go (with sugar, and lots of tea) - there haz been awesome to go with the fail yes *nods*

So I've been told. And there is, really, in what I have seen. I just, I dunno, they sorta lost me last season with the whole angel/demon thing. I love Misha and think he's a hoot, but I don't really care anything about the angels as characters.

so it's behind canon, so her hair should go blonde in, ummm, a few episodes.

That's dumb. And confusing. They should fix that.

which was a child kidnapping, aka 75% of kids would have already been killed

Yes! That is a terrible response time, especially for people with supposed access to a private jet.

HEEE you'd be in the group that tell me I sound australian then

You're Welsh then, are you? You're right, I do have a harder time with the Welsh folks than the other parts of the UK. Not as many tv shows from there (other than TW)!

basically, I confuse people ;)

Hee! Me too. I tend to pick up other people's accents and speech patterns really quickly. And I've been told I don't really have "an accent", although I tend to skew toward the American Deep South. Because that's the accent I prefer. I grew up right outside Pittsburgh, PA and I've worked VERY hard to not have that accent as I think it's horrid.

As for spin-offs, I rarely think they work. Yes, sometimes they're ok, but most of the time, just no.

It's a nice accent to prefer ;)

Yeah spinoffs rarely do well/often go too far

I just remembered, randomly, there was a LEO as killer, only he didn't call in the BAU (the one with the female lead cop that got killed, it was about illegals getting killed in the desert)
