resume padding

I just got voted one of the two 1L reps for the Tech Law Society at our first meeting of the year (in a tiebreaker - talk about harrowing. Where's IRV when you need it?). It'll be fun - each officer takes on an event to plan for the year, so, in addition to helping set up/take down events and schmoozing my ass off at firm receptions, I might help organize a TGIT (weekly [Thursday] school social), maybe see if I can help bring in an outside speaker. If any of you i. are in a tech- & law-related field (patents, copyright, trademark... litigation... transactions) ii. or know someone who is, and iii. you or your colleague will be in Seattle between like now and like June, and iv. you'd want to give a talk, let me know!

One of the officers in the society is the spitting image of the workout video maven's evil stepdaughter in Legally Blonde. It's eerie. Also eerie: that one of my professors made a Legally Blonde reference last week. What hath Hollywood wrought?

I'm starting a CopyNight Seattle, inaugural meeting to be held the 24th of October (third Tuesday), and boy, I'd better be up-to-date enough not to make an ass of myself.

In other news, Prof. Ramasastry is heavy with child and has excused herself from mentoring students this year, and I have been assigned another faculty mentor whose focus areas do not overlap with my interests at all. I'm bummed, but congratulations to Anita! Man, even my school is not exempt from the "2006 = weddings 'n' babies" effect.

school, events, copynight, babies
