You Drive Me Cicada

I feel something very close, like watching a wave crest. It's happiness and creativity incarnate, a slice of euphoria, a sweet perfume in the air, a weight lifting off. Time begins to race, hormone and histamine levels rise, nothing stands still. Everything comes to life as if shedding stone skin.

It's spring after a long, cold, lonely winter.

Every cherry blossom tree here in Sakawa is blooming. If I had time to sit there and watch them, I bet I could see the flowers open.

The season is very short; just little over a week long between the blossoms blooming and when the tress are bare again. But the flowers mark the season and, I have to say, it is one of the most wonderful feelings ever to see those trees come to life after the winter. You must spend the entire winter in Japan to really appreciate the beauty and happiness that the sakura represent.

Of course, everything comes with its disadvantages. One was the cicada hanging out in my car on the steering wheel last night. Have you ever tried to get a cicada to freaking move? They are the laziest insects I have ever interacted with. This was my conversation with the cicada as told by my sister:

Me: Okay, Cicada-san. Get out of my car.
Cicada: I'll drive.
Me: Get out! *poke poke poke*
Cicada: I'm good here kthxbai.
Me: DAMN YOU CICADA!!! YOU CAN'T DRIVE!

I want Katie to draw a comic about it.

And then there was the GIANT FLYING COCKROACH OF DOOM in my shower this morning. Stupid cockroaches ruining my morning showers. I woke up early to take that shower too.

Last night and Saturday I cleaned scrubbed my apartment. I mopped, dusted, cleaned the microwave, stove, and oven, and reorganized my bedroom. My kotatsu is now put away and the chair and desk are back, as is my wonderful sofa. I plan on starting Space Channel 5 tonight finally. I WILL get to the final level and dance with Michael Jackson. Oh, I will.

But before I do that, I'm watching the series finale of Battlestar Galactica. Kara, who are you? Can the Cylons and humans ever live in peace? What is up with that opera house? Will the Ones finally just freaking die already? I hope all my burning questions and more that I haven't even thought of will be answered. Make me proud, BSG. Make me proud.

And now it's lunch time. I am going back to my apartment for 45 minutes of not sitting at this desk. It'll be glorious.

tv, yay, japan, video games, weather
