So my fridge is on the fritz. I first discovered this when I took the milk out this morning and found that the carton was alarmingly warm. Upon further investigation, I found that the little bit of frost on the chilled food section had melted and was dripping all over. I have no idea how old this fridge it, but I think it's about had it now. And, come to think of it, this fridge acts up a lot. Sometimes I find pools of water on the floor under the thing and the freezer will defrost and refreeze things at will. Any ice cream I put in there looks like a puddle of mush after just a few days.
So I turned the cooling to the highest setting and I'm hoping that will keep everything from spoiling until I'm able to talk to my supervisor about it on Tuesday. I hope that the city will flip at least some of the bill for a new fridge, but I'm not optimistic. I also wonder what the heck we're going to do with the old fridge. It's not like I can just drag it to the curb. I'll probably have to take it somewhere for disposal and there might be a fee involved with that. :/ Tomorrow I'll head down to the local electronics store and see what they're charging for refrigerators. I hope I can find one as small as this one is. I can't fit a whole huge thing in my very cramped kitchen.
This sucks because I really don't have the money to buy a new fridge until payday. Bah.
I also have to get up kind of early tomorrow and head into the city. I have to get to the foreign food store and hope desperately that they have light corn syrup. I need it for my cooking class on the 18th because we're making candied apples. I have one bottle of the stuff and so I have enough to make about 40 apples, but I'm having about 70 kids coming to the class, so I need more than one bottle. Wish me luck!
There are two long weekends in November and I'm thinking about traveling to somewhere in Shikoku. I'm not exactly sure where, but I'm going to do some research this week and see where the cool places are... Um, if there are any on Shikoku. I may even borrow a tent and go camping because the weather's really nice right now. Well, it may get a little cold at night, but with some warm blankets I can hopefully last the night. Now all I need is a victim to come with me. Come on, it'll be fun! I love camping! I hate hiking and most other outdoorsy stuff, but I love to camp. As long as the weather is right, of course.
Monday is a holiday. This is the day I plan on rearranging my apartment for the winter. Not much will change expect that I'm moving my computer into my bedroom. Woo! It'll be right next to my bed, which I'm not sure is a good thing. I already spend way too much time on this thing already, heh.
I received the shock of the week when watching what was seemingly a run-of-the-mill new episode of Stargate Atlantis. The opening was the normal fair until, to my complete and utter surprise, enter Michael Shanks! I was totally floored. I had no idea he was guest starring. It was so funny because Rodney and John were talking about some mysterious new arrival and I briefly amused myself with the notion that maybe it'd be Daniel, but I was like: "Naaaaah. Shanks would never guest star on another episode of Atlantis." As if to mock me, there he was. It was a great episode too and ended in a cliffhanger. I'm just about to watch the concluding ep now.
And with that, I'm off to watch the new episode. Maybe Daniel'll die in this one. I'd actually really enjoy that. Ha!
