I've been reading Robert E. Howard's Conan stories lately. They're a lot of fun, though I can't read too much at once or I start to get annoyed. Howard was a product of his time in a major way and he was writing for a pulp audience, so the few non-white characters aren't characters so much as set pieces, and the women are mostly damsels in distress ( Read more... )

Also, the third series of the BBC Robin Hood has popped up on the internets. It's stupid as hell, but extremely likeable.
