Why?

Sep 12, 2011 19:43

I find that "why?" is the question I ask most often when I see bad flags. "Why did you do that?" "Why does he have all these powers?" "Why did you feel the need to list seventeen theme songs?" And that's the case with these flags, too. A whole lot of "why?"

WHY )

stupid emotes, butthurt, draenei, growth potion, demon in disguise, yer doin it wrong, pretty princess, wyrmrest accord, scars, ow my retinas, lore crushing, horrible relative, look at me, funny story, flagrsp, scarlet crusade, terreble evil, you make me sic, half-elf, lolwhut, dragon in disguise, wankery, worgen, ruined forever, freaky hybrid, death knight, emo bullcrap, demon

If it doesn't walk like a duck, look like a duck, or quack like a duck...

The other day I was chortling about the idea of someone trying roleplay a "tauren" being allowed into Stormwind because "part of a neutral faction, guys!" Surely no one would be silly enough to try it?

Welp, that was fast.

Well, t'be fair, wasn't there a Darkspear envoy in Stormwind during patch 4.1?

And really, blood elves have been RPing in Silvermoon as "high elves" for AGES now, without even bothering with "neutral faction," just with an "I'm that special and I have this special commendation from the kingdom that proves you can't kill me on sight".

Yes, and she's stuck at the edge of the harbor on her little boat, surrounded by wary guards prepared to chop her in two if she makes a funny move. Stormwind isn't fond of its exotic emissaries.

Hah, fair enough. XD I was wondering why I'd never seen her on my Alliance toons.

Helf RP... rarely done right. :(

What I mean, sure I can understand one or two around there, but they'd be completely shunned and treated like they'd have the plague practically in a snobby belf manner.
Also with Helf I appreciate a huuuge background reserach before I deem that "kay I let you pass my radar of 'wtf'".

Helf RP... rarely done right.

Fore "rarely" read "never"

Which is the exact reason why it's rare as it is in other games.

...then obviously, it's totally a duck.

I can kind of see the argument, but as with the troll emissary, I imagine any tauren Cenarion emissaries would be confined to, say, the Park when it existed or to a very limited space. And knowing Varian Chynn's temper, I don't think he'd exactly be saying "sup bros, why don't you go for a drink at the Pig while you're here?"

(incidentally, she was in front of the Cathedral)

Emissary from a race that the people of Stormwind are actively at war at. No biggie, just park yourself in the middle of their capital, in front of their place of worship!

Admittedly, I'd read articles suggesting that of all the Horde races, tauren would be the most likely for humans/the Alliance to be like "let us be frands!" with. That possibility, though, is still... well. Slim, to say the least.

They're big on peacemaking and diplomacy, yes, but the kingdom of Stormwind isn't so accepting. I'm sure they wouldn't be happy with one traipsing around their city without at least heavily-armed supervision.

I agree completely. Which is why this makes me scratch my head and say "wha--?"

This. I'm the leader of a neutral guild, so we accept high elves and such (provided they can actually pull it off), but the truth of the matter is you can't send a high elf emissary to the Horde capitals. It's a completely stupid thing to do, especially when you have a million and one blood elves to choose from.
That's why whenever such a high elf character says they're willing to be an emissary to Silvermoon in particular, my character's like "Okay, first we'll try NOT politically slapping Silvermoon in the face."

So yeah, rant aside, the Cenarion Circle would have just sent a night elf.
