March the 9, 10, 11, and 12: My sense of time went and left me again

Mar 12, 2009 21:14

Yeah, my excuse this time for not posting is that with the start of daylight savings time (why is it that people say that when it starts it'll feel like 5 when it's really 6 and when it ends people say it'll feel like 7 but it's really 6, can't 6 just be 6?) it was actually light enough after dinner for me to walk. That plus The World Ends With You meant that I wasn't getting on the computer at my regular time, so my schedule was thrown off and I never remembered how much time I had left. So I'm working on that, I'm sure I'll figure out something.
Anyway, daylight savings time. Yeeeaaahhh, as if I felt tired enough already, also means that the sun is in different positions so I got my first sunburn of the year Sunday at tech or Monday when we went outside for photography. And if I didn't get it then then I must have gotten it Tuesday when we had lunch outside (all of the tables were taken on Monday by the time we got out there and no one really felt like sitting on the pavement). And we have now been told that we aren't allowed to move the table off the patio onto the grass (where the sun is) which is a little annoying. But it was funny, the grass was wet for a few days so you would see everyone sitting on the tables in the grass, but there would be this line of book-bags on the pavement. Shader was also worried about her moccasins getting wet (these were awesome moccasins, hand tooled, laced up almost to her knees like boots, total win). And she had a pair of moccasins that were too big for her (it's funny, she's taller yet we wear the same size pants and I have the bigger feet, but size 8 feet aren't big to start with) so she gave them to me and I have a new pair of shoes. It's been years since I've had moccasins too, I'll need to put some pads in to give them extra cushioning, but they should be fun to wear.
So, other than lunch, we decided in photography that instead of going to the other city for our architecture photography field trip next week we'll go to my city which I think will be much more fun. Actually, I know a cool church (not mine) to take photos at, need to find the name and address of it again. And we might be able to photograph at what sounds like a really neat abandoned house. I hope so, it sounds like it's an old Georgian style home with a sunk in swimming pool and yeah, creepiness is cool in photography (but not when you walk into the dark room and find five life size cardboard cut out horses, that's more of a WTF moment). And we are having a photography art show soon which is nice because that means I have a reason to print and mount some photos that I wouldn't have a chance to do so otherwise. I actually looked through my library at home for some photos and came across some nice ones. I really want to start submitting my "artisan crafts"+photos to dA again, god knows I have enough to submit one every day for a month, and since I just installed a basic verison of photoshop on my computer (it came with my tablet AND I'll be allowed to put it on my laptop when I get it) I expect more. I'm really finding my photography style, outside, no people, something between close-up and landscape, minimal editing, usually just adjusting curves, levels, or saturation. I like taking more natural photos, I want my photos to reflect the place I shot, not how average my photoshop skills are (although I do like some of the artsy filters a lot, I try to keep that down though). Oh, and my friend Donna (my photography buddy!) won't be doing the play so she'll be coming with us after all. That makes me happy, and not just because I'll have someone to split the cost of the pizza lunch with me, lol.
It's getting late and I had, well, a good day, bad dinner so I think I'll get off now. Signing off!
