Yuletide OMG
yuletide signups start tomorrow. I'm so excited!
During nominations, it looked like one of my character noms had gotten rejected. I was sad, but I wasn't going to bother the mods with it since I didn't have my heart set on her. Now that the final list of fandoms is up, I can see that my nom got rejected because someone had already nominated her! Someone besides me reads Clockwork Century! That means my request in that fandom has a chance of getting matched! *crosses all the fingers* I know there are other Yulegoats in the rest of my fandoms, so now all four of them have a shot. Which will it beeeeee?
Just looking at the (rather daunting, I don't know how to mods do it) list of fandoms is enough to make me squee. I've spotted a few that I would love to write for. I think my favorite "fandom" on the list has to be "Octopus Steals My Video Camera and Swims Off with it While It's Recording (youtube video)." The nominated characters are Camera, Guy, Octopus, and Speargun. I'm tempted to offer to write it just because I want to see what the request will look like.
So many of my tiny fandoms are getting love at Yuletide! The Old Kingdom trilogy has fourteen characters listed, and four of them are Kibeth, the Disreputable Dog, Mogget, and Yrael. Technically the four of them are only two people (beings? Gods?), but it warms my heart to see people using up those valuable character noms to specify which version they want. I didn't request it, but I would be thrilled to get matched to write it.
OH MY GOD there's Savage Love RPF. I... I don't even know. RPF makes me uncomfortable generally, but... fanfic about Mistress Matisse? I'll be in my bunk.
I saw someone asking the mods about how to nominate their particular fandom, which they worried would get mixed up with the many versions of Sherlock Holmes. I am pleased to see that the matter has been resolved and the fandom is available under "Sherlock Holmes (2010) (aka the one with the rubber T-rex)."
Shade's Children didn't make the list, I just realized, which further confirms for me that I am one of about five people who actually writes fanfic for that book. It has to be the book with the most fanfic potential that doesn't have a fandom. I'll have to remember to request it next year.
