I always look forward to the trick-or-treaters and their creative costumes.
Not knowing what to expect in this new neighborhood we asked around. Apparently there are a lot of drop-offs: parents bring their kids to different subdivisions, drop them off and wait while they make the rounds. We assumed we should expect a lot of visitors... what we got was *maybe* 30 total. When I stood outside I could hear children everywhere; they just weren't coming down our street. I was crushed by 8:30 when I turned the porch light off.
I rode my bike to the end of the cul-de-sac.There were kids all over. We are the 5th house from the main street, after a curve. Most of the lots are about an acre so we can't be seen from the main road. Half the houses at the top of our street weren't participating so it was dark. Why would the kids want to come down? Boo.
Now I have 3 gallon-size ziploc bags of candy... Husband is up in Baltimore for a few days, but when he returns to work Wednesday he's taking some with him.
Next year I guess a single bag will do. *sigh*
