Now that the season is at the half way mark, I have to admit (as a fan of the show) that this season has a lot of problem. Not just in the pacing and character use/development, but in the major reasons for their villains to be villains as well as the redemption story line.
- Basically Cora has been playing a long game of getting revenge on Queen Eva? She poisons her, makes sure she dies, puts Snow in danger, makes Regina Queen (why not just become Queen herself?), makes sure Regina blames Snow for Daniel's death, etc. Because she wants Snow to become a horrid and sad person with no hope? Why? Because Eva was mean to her/stole the King from her? And if that's the case, then why didn't the King (or anyone else) recognize Cora? Whatever. All the bad stuff that has happened has been Cora manipulating people and events to get revenge on Eva for some yet unknown (and probably dumb) reason.
-Meanwhile, this episode proved one thing: good (or rather the Charmings) are dumb. And I really do wish the writers would stop trying to make Snow "break" by having horrible things happen to her. I'm sorry, but I stopped feeling sorry for her long ago.
-Oh, and Cora actually wants to become the Dark One.
I plan on doing a post later today or this week about the flaws that are really bringing S2 down. S1 was okay and didn't really get good until the half-way mark, but S2 has been a mess. Look forward to my thoughts.
