Fairy Tales are the new Vampires (F-list help?)
I've been reading a lot lately. So, I've decided to make lists of books I want to read every month. I've also taken to looking at new releases (and up-coming 2012 releases)and noticed a trend: fairy tales. First it was vampires, then werewolves, then aliens, then zombies, then angels and ghosts. Now fairy tales are in. Most of the up-coming novels are fairy tale re-tellings or just stories that draw from old fairy tales and legends.
I suppose a lot of it has to do with popular things like the comic series Fables or shows like Once and Grimm. No matter - fairy tales being the cool new thing makes me very happy. I love all manner of stories like fairy tales, folk stories, and legends. I'm sure not all the books will be good, but some of them have to be. Right?
And because I'm looking forward to reading the books, I've taken to watching some older movies about fairy tales. Movies like The 10th Kingdom, the Cannon films about Snow White and Little Red Riding Hood. I even found some lovely European films about Cinderella and Snow White; and, while they weren't all that good, they were still very sweet.
Watching all these films and tv shows got me thinking: I would love to do a fanvid using all sorts of different fairy tale and fairy tale-like films/shows as a base. That's where you guys come in: are there any films/mini series/tv shows (episodes) you think I ought to use? And for that matter, are there any songs you think would fit fairy tales?
