Another Sunday, another posts about my two favorite shows. I watched Once with my sister this week, and she had the best thing to say about it: "I don't know if it's me, the fairy dust, the egg, or you - but, this is love." lol. Anyway. . .
Once
- So, dwarfs comes from eggs? That's a little weird. I'm not sure if I like it or not, actually.
- Grumpy was Dreamy, and then he developed feelings for Nova and it all went to hell. Well, not really. I got the sense that both Dreamy and Nova felt something for each other. And, I got the feeling that Dreamy wanted more from life and that Nova had big dreams. But, like the Blue Fairy said, I don't think it would have ended well for them. I don't think it was true love.
- I actually found the fairy tale bits of this episode to be a bit boring. It was nice to discover more about the seven (eight) dwarfs and who they were pre-Snow White, but. . .I don't know. . .aside from Dreamy becoming Grumpy and Belle showing up, I feel like I didn't learn anything that is important. Not really.
- Speaking of Belle. . .she was at the inn - drinking. And, she said she knew heartbreak. So, I'm guessing this episode is post-"Skin Deep". Rumpelstiltskin made Belle a drunk?! That is what some fans are saying. But, I think she was more sad and depressed, but also wanted to encourage someone to find their happiness, love, and dreams. Belle's a nice girl.
- All fairies are nuns. It works out well. Especially when you think about the fairies in these fairy tales/God mothers of princesses almost always coming across as wise and pure.
- Leroy is quickly becoming a favorite Storybrooke character. :)And is idea of turning off the town's lights, so they'd have to buy candles - while illegal and dangerous - was awesome. I hope he does fix up that boat and gives Astrid that ride. (Weirdly, I liked Leroy/Astrid a bit more than Grumpy/Nova.)
- So... the town is treating Mary Margaret like "The Town Harlot", but there have been no scenes to show how David's been treated. Yes, one day has passed since the last episode, but I would have liked to see something. Like people at the vet's refusing to talk to him or. . .something.
- So. . .Gold hates nuns? Or it's more likely that Rumplestiltskin hates fairies due to a "complicated history". I can't wait to see that history.
- Regina did she do something to the phone records? Most likely not. But, I have no doubt that she will try and frame David and/or Mary Margaret for Kathryn's disappearance. You just know she's down in the basement with Belle. (And goodness knows who else.)
- Boo to no Archie this week. Since his episode he's been in very tiny scenes or MIA. I like him - give him something to do. Oh wait, I read that he'll have some new clients in the near future. One of whom is Mr. Gold. I'm so looking forward to those scenes.
- Loved that Emma was on the case this week. Investigating and more or less following the books. (Seriously is she really the only cop in town?) When she asked David to come with her to the station, I thought: "She's bringing her Dad in for questioning!" I thought it was funny for some reason.
- I like that Granny lit Mary Margaret's candle. I didn't like that someone spray painted her truck. Look, affairs are WRONG, true love or no. I get that and I agree that affairs are wrong. But. . .she didn't murder anyone or abuse a child. She had an affair. The town and Mary Margaret are acting like she committed the worse crime of all time. It really is no one's business but Mary Margaret, David, and Kathryn's. The way the town has treated her in the last two days. . .I'm not a fan of it. Yes, it's a small town and it's just been two days. But I think the writers are taking it to an extreme. I get it's mostly Regina's doing, but still. This isn't going to make me root for Mary Margaret/David, it's not going to make me feel sorry or like either one of them. So stop. Move on.
-The preview for next week looks amazing!
Being Human
- Adam, Adam, Adam. He really is an immature idiot, but for some reason, he's likeable.
- So, demons are real in BH canon?
- Tom under the love spell was hilarious. Hal's dram - not so much. But, I adore the way Yvonne reacted to them. Just a sigh and a "Here we go away." lol.
- I really liked Yvonne. She's a mature, intelligent, and thoughtful lady. What she sees in Adam is beyond me.
- Loved seeing Annie's darker sides. She always acts and seems so kind and lovely. It's great that they are exploring her darker side, and exploring the fact that she will do anything - even kill - to protect Eve. And, that she enjoyed killing Kirby and that she wants to do it again.
- Okay, so anyone else wondering what happened to Adam's friends from the webseries Becoming Human? Yes? No? I am. I would have liked a mention. Even if just as a throw away line or conversation.
- I really wish they would explore the relationships between the main three more. I see they are fleshing out a friendship between Annie and Hal, and they have been doing a bit of a bromance with Hal and Tom, and Anne does treat Tom like a brother who needs looking after. . .but, I wish there was more stuff with the three of them.
- Cutler is a good villain, in that he is very intelligent and he has read up on some vampire lore. He certainly knew how to get out of Pete's room. (Poor Pete. :( ) I honestly do think Cutler was going to let him go, but than the cross came up. And now, he's put the werewolf video online!
- So, the older a vampire is, the less things like crosses work on them? Interesting.
- I wish they would explore the Eve storyline more. We only have three episodes left! Though from the preview, it looks like next week will be all about Hal and Tom getting girlfriends and Annie helping a ghost crossover. I'm all for Tom getting a girlfriend. But. . .do we really need a whole episode about it? We have three episodes left - get back to the Old Ones (who must be taking a really slow ass boat) and ghost!lady and baby Eve: Destroyer of Vampires. Please.
