Ow! My Eye!

I'm in a world of pain right now. There's something wrong with my eye and I don't know what it is. I've developed terrible sensitivity to light, icky redness, slight swelling and cloudy vision in my left eye, and I have no idea what is causing it ( Read more... )

You probably got an eye-bug here in Seattle, since El Corazon is such an eyesore.

Seriously though, you need to see an optometrist. If it's to the point of affecting your vision, it's serious and needs to get dealt with before it gets worse. It sounds like the scleritis a friend of mine had.

I don't know about CA law, but in WA hospitals have to treat you (eventually), insurance or no.

I knew I shouldn't have been rubbing my eyeballs on the floor... El Corazon isn't as bad as The Catwalk was, though.

Well, I know they'd have to treat me - but it's a matter of being able to pay the bills afterwards. I would not be able to do so and would put myself in an extremely bad financial situation which would lead to me likely being unable to pay my rent or eat food.

This kind of rationale is the kind of thing that causes people's condition to worsen until they have to have some massive procedure and hospital stay for something they could have gotten taken care of (thinks of a friend's emergency dental surgery for a toothache he put off because he was too broke to go to the dentist).

Are you gonna eventually get insurance at your job?

Also, if it does seem like an emergency, could your folks help out with a dr. visit?

I agree with what the other person said. In the meantime, though, take a couple of Benadryl to see if you're having an allergic reaction to something.

Yeah, I'll do that. I hope it's just an allergic reaction, but wouldn't it be in both eyes if it was? :\

Nope. Scenario: you unknowingly touch something, then rub that eye. Hence, that eye freaks out and not the other one.

oh, true - i was thinking of a more generalized allergic reaction, like to something eaten or inhaled.
