A few NYCC related things I haven't seen around:
(I have to say this was the first con I've read through twitter and it's a very odd experience, especially with the mix of pros and fans on there. I only wish DC would get their social networking act together, so I don't feel like I'm betraying my fangirl heart all the time.)
Mini Marvel X-men/New Tiny Titans crossover as drawn by Chris Giarusso & Art Balthazar for a charity auction. I still have my copy of the this crossover. I think it was one of the first back issues I ever bought at a real comic store, instead of the 7-11 spinner rack. It's the reason I knew part of the Dark Phoenix saga before I got into the X-men full throttle.
Pulp Panel at NYCC report: The new "Shadow" movie sounds worrying. I know his alternate identity wasn't always Lamont Cranston, but that is what the bulk of the general public know and remember. That and his taglines and his costume. What will amuse Bat fans is the information about the "Whisperer" character and how the reprint publishers had to warn DC Comics ahead of time. Why you might ask? Apparently the subtitle to the first story is "The Secret Life of James W. Gordon". It gets even weirder when you learn he's one James W. "Wildcat" Gordon, NYPD police commissioner. The physical description actually sounds a little like the BTAS' "Gray Ghost", so I'm suddenly picturing Jim's grandfather as Bruce's mentor. Very very odd. You really can't make this up.
Dark Horse Comics' Noir anthology: Lots of big names in crime comics. Maybe lacking Rucka in there, but otherwise quite a few old friends.
Global Frequency: Review of GF on Fantasticfangirls. It's on my list of things to reread now after getting through the first Powers trade. FX is supposedly interested in a Powers tv show. Part of me hopes they'd tone down the language, but I'm one of those who doesn't think you have to swear to be edgy or hip.
