From -10 to +12 in a week - the outcomes: Kaunas spring 2010
One week ago we had winter. Last weekend we had spring. Here is brief temperature dynamics in Kaunas during last week : March 16 - minus 9, March 17 minus 7, March 18 minus 2, March 19 plus 5, March 20 plus 10, March 21 plus 12. After prolonged and very snowy winter such rapid increase in temperature had impact. And here are some of the results of such a rapid arrival of the Spring:
Since this town is located at the confluence of two rivers such a rapid warming up caused Spring floods - phenomena not seen here for many years. There are no human victims so far but some residents suffered heavy material damage.
So here I will show some proprietary photos and some journalists photos.

The most dramatic situation was at the northern outskirts near the river Neris. Today situation is better but on Monday in some places it was really dramatic:
Yesterday there was water, today you can see only remaining ice chunks:
The situation for this supermarket was uneasy on Monday when those giant ices were streaming around ...
