Today we will visit the part of Utena which could be conditionally called official:
If we will turn slightly to the south from the Basanavičiaus and Kauno street crossing we will find the official center of Utena. In the map this area is marked with gray:
The last signs of the commercial area of Utena:
Soon administrative buildings will begin. This is Utena branch of Register center:
Some neighboring buildings remember 1970s:
The central square of Utena:
Near the square you can find the Social work faculty of Utena college:
Utena museum building:
Exotic exhibition in the square:
Utena municipality is located in the very ordinary building:
Exotic sculpture in the square:
Another monument in the square has more clear meaning - this is monument to the partisan fighters of Lithuanian Liberation Army (1944-1953):
Farthest corner of the square in recent years changed it's look but maintained provincial feeling:
Bank building from the early 1990s:
Let's turn to the north from the square. Adjacent street is full of the funeral bureaus:
The reason of this: those streets goes to the Chris Ressurection church. This church established in 1514 but the modern building was built only in 1882-1884:
Sculpture on the church:
The area around the church is fully used for the church needs. Parish museum:
Another parish house:
Church shelter:
One more religious building ...
And here we can leave this administrative - religious center of Utena and can go further :)
